Mouth Cancer Screening

As with most cancers, early detection is imperative when it comes to mouth cancer.

We’re proud to perform mouth cancer screenings here at Hatfield Dental Care. If we find anything to cause concern, we will refer you to a specialist.

What is a mouth cancer screening?

A mouth cancer screening is a very simple treatment that can help us detect early signs of mouth cancer. During the treatment, we will check your mouth for red and white patches and sores that could potentially indicate mouth cancer. We will use gloved hands to check for lumps, swelling and other abnormalities.

Further examinations can include using a screening dye, which you will use to rinse out your mouth before the screening. Abnormal cells will then pick up the colour of the dye, turning blue after the dye has been rinsed out.

A screening light can also be used in a similar way to the dye. Under this light, healthy tissue appears dark, while abnormal cells appear white. Depending on the results of your screening, we may recommend a biopsy or a follow-up appointment.

I have recently been for my one year review on my dental implants that I had done at Hatfield dental care, I had two front dental implants, after shopping around I trusted this dental surgery & felt Asfar did not try to force other treatments on me that I did not need like other dentists did, I am so happy with them they look and feel like my real teeth and thats all I ever wanted after my accident causing loss of my front teeth, my implant surgery was no quick fix it started from my bone grafting to the final crown over many months all pain free and any questions or worries was dealt with asap which I appreciate, best money I have ever spent!
